SM Hypermarket Marilao kicks off with two Master Chefs for the Cooking Marathon

On July, SM Hypermarket in partnership with nineteen brands together launched the SM Master Chefs Cooking Marathon, a composite event made up of three components – a grand cooking demo, kitchen makeovers and a set of cook-offs that are set to make foodie history.

It was my second time to attend the Master Chef at SM Marilao. I have no idea that two Chefs will do the cooking demo that day. First on the stage is Chef Kai Verdadero from San Miguel Purefoods Culinary Center followed by Chef Deejay Santos whom I met few weeks ago at the SM Hypermarket Cooking Marathon held in Mandaluyong.

Chef Kai cooked two dishes - Peaches and Cream Caramel Trifle which really looks delicious, Star Ranchero Rice and Cheesy Hotdog and Fries Sandwich Overload.

Chef Deejay Santos took the stage for the second part of the Cooking Marathon that afternoon. I love what Chef Deejay prepared that day. It’s actually a complete meal set, with pasta, bread and a refreshing drink.

The first recipe is the Tomato and Herb Bruschetta using McCormick products.  The first step he did was pre-heating the baguette and mixing tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar, basil oregano and salt in medium bowl. Later on he put desired amount of tomato mixture added some kesong puti over the sliced baguette. It taste good, best served as an appetizer because of the tangy taste of tomato mixture.

His second recipe is very easy to prepare, it’s called Beef Stroganoff Pasta. Thanks Chef Deejay for sharing us that we can also use/substitute McCormick Gravy Mix for making pasta sauces, isn’t it interesting? Yes, the taste, flavor is indeed interesting. What we often use to match our fried chickens also gives a different twist to usual pasta dish. It tastes like carbonara. I highly recommend using only McCormick Gravy mix for this recipe because it’s not too salty compared to other gravy brands.
Before we end that afternoon cooking demo, Chef Deejay prepared a refreshing drink. It’s called Rosemary Iced Tea using only four ingredients – McCormick Rosemary leaves, Water, Simple Sugar and Lemon slices for garnish. It taste good especially if served cold. It’s very refreshing. You can adjust the sweetness according to your preference.

I will be sharing the complete recipe and procedure on my Food Blog, so watch out for it. I think this will be my last post about SM Hypermarket Master Chefs Cooking Marathon, though I’m planning to write a final post about all the Master Chefs I met and different Hypermarkets I attended.

The SM Master Chefs Cooking Marathon just ended, let’s watch out for the lucky winners of the kitchen makeover and the set of cook-offs which I understand will take place in different provinces.
