Tourism Malaysia Launched #MyBFFXoXo Campaign

Let me take you back in 2012 when I visited Malaysia for the first time upon the invitation of Tourism Malaysia. As a first-timer my only expectation is to see Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas Tower to be exact. Little did I know I will experience a once in a lifetime community immersion when I suddenly decided to do homestay at Pelegong Homestay in Negeri Sembilan. It was a wonderful experience.

In 2013, I went back to Malaysia upon the invitation again of Tourism Malaysia and Air Asia Zest for a familiarization tour in Sabah, Malaysia. We stayed in Pacific Sutera Hotel, explored Sapi and Manukan Islands, did snorkeling and helmet diving in Borneo Reef World. One of the highlights of this trip was a cultural immersion at Mari Mari Cultural Village in Sabah.

Last year, I was at the Visit Malaysia 2014 Gala Night. Although not in Malaysia but in one of the big hotels in Manila, we were treated to a spectacular cultural dance performances and sumptuous Malaysian cuisine.

This year, Tourism Malaysia invites Filipinos to visit the beautiful Malaysia with your best friend. This year's theme #MyBFFXoXo, 2015 dubbed as the Year of Festivals, Tourism Malaysia. Personalities including Honorable Dato’ Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director General of Tourism Malaysia along with the rest of the Malaysia delegation comprising of State Tourism Boards, Product Owners, Hoteliers and Tour Operators.

In his speech, His Excellency shared,
“For MyFest 2015, we aim to have 29.4 million tourist arrivals and RM89 billion in tourist receipts, leading up to our ultimate goal of 36 million tourists and RM168 billion in tourist receipts by 2020. This is part of the government’s National Blue Ocean Strategy to create value innovation through public-private partnership collaboration. To that end, I would like to invite all of you to work with each other and develop new tourism products and packages that will highlight our culture, and promote it as a tourist attraction to the rest of the world.”
The campaign encourages travelers who have been to Malaysia to post their favorite vacation photos on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #mybffxoxo, which also qualifies them to win special monthly prizes from Tourism Malaysia, as well as the grand prize for the promotion, a three days/two nights stay in Malaysia with your best friend or family member.
