What Does it Mean to be Eco-Fashionable

They say I'm an old fashion. Maybe because they often see me in carrying vintage bags, loving 60s inspired clothes to eco-fashion accessories. Even when I was still a kid, I would ask grandma to give me her native bags, slippers and accessories. I prefer native products made of abaca and banig.

Eco-Friendly Products for your Home and Lifestyle

One of the reasons why I'm supporting and using native products is because I wanted to save the environment. I choose not to use plastic and would always have an eco-bag with every time I go out of the house. I'm not gonna pay Php2 for plastic bag, I would rather save my money.

In this photo, I wore a yellow bag made from pandan leaves while the blue hat made of recycled plastic material.

When traveling, I also take with me an eco-friendly tumbler and just refill it with water from the hotel every morning after breakfast. It saves me a lot from purchasing plastic bottled water in the supermarket or convenience store.

Look at my Tassel Earrings? They are 100% cotton handmade by local sellers. You can get this at Yaka Earrings.

Decorate your Home with Fresh Flowers

I also love plants, I'm an happy owner of a pink bougainvillea tree. It was only one feet in height when I planted it about three years ago and look it grows fast and beautiful. It's about nine feet high now. This bougainvillea brings so much joy to me specially every morning. I can see butterflies and birds coming to the tree every now and then.

There are santan and welcome plants and some herbs like basil. They grow in small pots in my backyard.

Those are just my little ways of saving and protecting the earth. Just like me, you too can take baby steps toward becoming Juan Earth Hero and you can do it now! Why not set-up a little garden in front of your backyard. If you're living in a condo unit, you can also plant in small pots those cute pots you can get in a dollar store. Choose eco-friendly accessories, products made of recycled materials.

You can also volunteer to environmental efforts such as the upcoming Juan Earth on September 29, 2018 at Bonifacio High Street Activity Center. Juan Earth is a grassroots effort produced by Write On Track and its dedicated team of community volunteers wanting to educate and empower people to create a healthier and more sustainable world.
