3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition 2012 Day 2| United Kingdom vs. Spain

Day 2 of the 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition and I stand exactly where I am last Saturday, day 1 (Click Here: Day|1 UK vs. Malta)

Lighting up the sky, the first competitor tonight is SM Art Pyrotechnics Ltd. from the United Kingdom.

UK delivered a spectacular display! The song Live and Let Die , a Pop-Rock music which is a little fast gives energy and excitement to the audience. I wasn’t able to take still shots though, I arrived about 3 minutes before the presentation started and I have to set up my camera.

After few sets of song and dance performances, the second and final presenter of the night was introduced. Spain’s Turis Fireworks, Inc.. Champion of the 2009-2010 Global Fest Fireworks Competition in Calgary Canada. It is said to be one of the biggest companies in the fireworks industries.

For me, it was a night of entertainment and relaxation as I witnessed great pyromusical display from UK and Spain. Between the two, I like Spain’s exhibition. It was spectacular, grand and breathtaking. There’s drama too, creating an emotional experience to anyone watching the show! The fireworks blend well with the chosen song, especially with the instrumental they use followed by an upbeat and fast giving a different appeal to the audience. I love the night’s pyromusical display!

I am fond of watching fireworks display and even more, witness a Pyromusical Competition. It’s amazing how music perfectly matches and blends on every fireworks display.

Next Saturday, February 25, witness another breathtaking fireworks display from Finland and Portugal.

The 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition is held every Saturday from February 11 to March 17, 2012 7pm at SM by the Bay

Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center with Philippine Astronomical Society presents National Astronomy Week – 2012: The Universe Survives.

It’s not the first time I visit the Science Discovery Center yet I have to admit each time I see this “technology-based” attraction, I wish there’s similar educational facility during our Elementary and High School days. Science is one of the most favorite and interesting subjects and I believe having such attraction students will be more eager to study, explore and discover.

Inside the Science Discover Center, visitors will have an interactive learning experience with the help of state-of-the-art equipment, computers and digital technology. Last Saturday, Science Discovery Center launch the celebration of the National Astronomy Week.

Visitors witness the opening of the outer-space photo gallery and were invited to the Philippine Premiere of the Ultimate Universe.

It was a great experience – from listening to symposium to watching the presentation held at the Planetarium. I can’t remember watching a movie like that in school and having such a grand tour of the universe and experience it’s most provocative secrets.

From February 18-25, 2012 witness new outer-space photo display, meteorites exhibit, amazing star gazing and Astronomy Convention Seminar by international and local speakers that will widen our knowledge and enlighten us about the truth on the predicted December 21, 2012 end of the world based on the Mayan calendar.

In some quarters, 2012 evokes a harrowing vision of the end of the world. Speculations grounded on religious and similar perspectives have a long provenance. Part of the symposium will focus on what physics and astrophysics have to say about the end of the world as we know it.

Celebrating National Astronomy Week, 2012:Ultimate Universe with Outer-space Photo Exhibit

International guest speakers from University of Chicago, Dr. Reinabelle Reyes will tackle “The Birth and Death of the Milky Way.”

Mr. George Martin from International Planetarium Society, on the other hand, will discuss an out-of-the-world topic – “A Little Black Dot: The Transit of Venus.”

Only the planets Mercury and Venus can pass between the Earth and the Sun. These events are called transits, during which we see these planets appearing as circular black dots appear to slowly move across the Sun’s face. Although transits of Mercury happen about 13 times each century, transits of Venus are rare. They occur in pairs separated by 8 years, following thereafter the next pair occurs more than a century later.

On June 6 of this year, Venus transits the Sun for the last time until the year 2117. In the past, the transits were very important, as they were used to calculate the distance between the Earth and the Sun. Today, we have no need of this method. However, the rarity of these events and the colorful history of their observation capture public attention.

In this talk, Martin George will excite everyone with the fascination of the transits of Venus and discuss what we shall see this year.

WAR HORSE: A Story of Heart-warming and Unique Friendship

I thought it would be just another typical war-themed story but I was wrong! This movie is actually a story of heart-warming and unique friendship separated by war and tested by battle – War Horse.

Last night we were at The Podium Cinema 1 for the Special Screening of the said movie.

About War Horse

“War Horse tells the story of a young man named Albert (Jeremy Irvine) and a horse called Joey. This epic adventure film chronicles the exploits of Albert and Joey after they are separated by war.

The story begins when an English farming family buys a horse not having enough money to pay for it. For the couples Ted (Peter Mullan) and Rosie Narracott (Emily Watson) the horse is nothing but a loss. But their young son Albert is resolute in his decision to tame and train the horse. Albert and Joey become friends, but when the war breaks out the two are separated. Joey is sold and becomes a mount of a British Cavalry officer. The film shows the horse’s adventures and his feats to touch the lives of the people he meets.”

In this film we can see how horses played an important role during war time. There are remarkable sad and funny scenes which I believe you will notice too! It’s a story of bravery, love and hope.

The film also War Horse also garnered several nominations in the 65th British Academy Film Awards for Best Film Music, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound and Best Special Visual Effects.

The film is released by Dream Works Studios and distributed in the country by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines. It is rated G by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB)

War Horse To Be Screened Exclusively at SM Cinemas

SM Cinemas, the country’s biggest film exhibitor, in partnership with Walt Disney STudios Motion Pictures Philippines, a leading film distribution company, will hold the exclusive screening of War Horse staring February 29, 2012.

War Horse opens at selected SM Cinema branches on February 29, 2012. These SM Cinema branches include SM North EDSA, Megamall, Mall of Asia, Marikina, Fairview, Cebu, Iloilo and Olongapo. Starting March 1, all SM Digital Theaters nationwide shall screen the said film.

Who’s not familiar with Selecta Cornetto Disc Song “Hey Daydreamer”? When I first saw the TV Commercial, I admit there’s the “kilig” feeling listening to the song and watching the ice cream commercial.

Without any idea who’s the singer and composer, still I find it very beautiful and “ear-catching”. Adding an ice cream product which I love, I can’t resist but watch the commercial every time it runs.

Few days ago, OrangeMagazineTV invited Bloggers for a meet and greet the OPM’s Ground Breaking Artist Somedaydream, the man behind the popular song “Hey Daydreamer”. As a big fan of this TV Ad, I didn’t want to miss the chance and meet this young artist. Just like other Bloggers’ Meet-Up, we were expecting to see a live performance and were not disappointed. It was like listening to a foreign artist.

2011 was a big year for Rez Toledo aka Somedaydream. Aside from being awarded by Yahoo Philippines as Breakthrough Artist and Icon of the Year, his hit single “Hey Daydreamer” got the number 1 spot of both Pinoy MYX Hit Charts year-ender edition. It was also radio station RX 93.1’s “Song of the Year” and also made him “OPM Artist of the Year”. Somedaydream likewise performed at the prestigious 2011 MYX Music Awards.

During the interview portion, someone asked him how he feels to be recognized now that he's popular. He politely said “I’m happy that people know my song” “But I didn’t expect it to be that so fast” he added.

The young singer said, he might be a director if not into music “Before I’m into music I was into visual arts”.

During his spare time, he loves to write songs and play with the piano.

The 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition at SM Mall of Asia Day 1| South Korea vs. Malta

This February to March 2012, witness the biggest and the best annual fireworks in Asia, The 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition!

This is where 11 of the world’s renowned pyrotechnic artists from various countries are bound to put on a spectacular and never-before-seen fireworks exhibition. Last 2011, China reigned supreme as it took the glorious trophy and placed United Kingdom and Japan in the second and third spots, respectively. This 2012, China and United Kingdom are back to compete once again in this prestigious event.

For 2012, the brightest competition opens with South Korea and Malta on February 11. Here’s the schedule of the competing countries.

February 18 – United Kingdom and Spain
February 25 – Finland and Portugal
March 3 – China and the Netherlands
March 10 – Australia and Canada
March 17 – Italy

On the last day, March 17, Philippines as the host country will also showcase a phenomenal Pyromusical performance to be executed by Platinum Fireworks, Inc. which was recently awarded “Most Favorite Pyromusical Performance” at the GlobalFest 2011 held in Calgary, Canada.

I am one of the lucky Bloggers invited to witness the exhibition last February 11. It was my first time to watch the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition and I enjoyed the show. I was standing in awe as I took photos and recorded their exhibition. Awesome and spectacular performances from Korea and Malta.

South Korea’s show particularly on the first part of the exhibition is my favorite. Malta had a great show too especially on the last part. I suggest you watch these videos from start to end and share your thoughts about it! By the way, I used my Nokia C7 phone to record the exhibition.

The event was made possible with presenters, Close-up and Samsung Galaxy Note, co-presenters Tanduay and Yamaha, in cooperation with Platinum Fireworks and Department of Tourism. Its major sponsors FOX International Channels and McDonald’s, its official residence Microtel MOA and media partner, Phil Daily Inquirer.

The night wasn’t over yet after the two exhibition. David Archuleta, American Pop Singer Songwriter performed with a Tagalog song and one of his songs at the Close-up Pyropalooza. Being a fan of American Idol, I grab the chance and watched him performed live on stage.

“So what are you going to eat?” my friends would regularly ask every time we go out to catch up on each other.

I admit I am a little choosy when it comes to food. Maybe one reason is that I know how to cook so I want the taste a little different and special when eating out or else I would tell my friends to come at my place and I’ll cook something for them.

I seldom order pasta dishes unless it looks interesting. And because most fast food and restaurants offer the usual pasta-chicken combo and/or pasta-pork meals, it took me almost an hour to decide what to eat.

Good thing Japanese restaurants offer variety of dishes. Gyoza, salmon teppan, yakiniku and tempura are some of my favorite Japanese food.

On January 21, I was invited to a week-end eating in a newly opened SumoSam Gilmore branch. It was a new and blessed Saturday morning for me. It’s new because I just started a new life and blessed because a prayer was granted. Oh well, I wouldn’t want to elaborate why it’s new.

Similar to all its branches, SumoSam Gilmore carries a vast selection of premium favourites – from salads to a variety of rolls, sushi, tempura, tonkatsu, gyudon, ramen, teppan, donburi, and perfectly grilled seafood and steaks. The branch remains consistent to SumoSam’s concept of providing high quality Japanese in generous American portioning and presentation.

The store is indeed appealing, with wooden planks and textured paints. The warm lighting and comfortable couches deliver a cheerful and casual ambiance. The operation spills outside to a mini-veranda where guests can sip a hot cup of tea or sake after meals.

That day, I had Samurai’s Choice which consist of generous serving of Japanese rice, chicken teriyaki, salmon and tuna sashimi, beef misono strips, dory tepan, kani stick, bean sprout, yasai itame, dilis and gohan.

I like my Samurai’s Choice bento (P488)! I wasn’t disappointed with the taste especially the serving size.

My favorite is the Chicken Teriyaki. It’s flavorful, tender and delicious. I was hoping they included one-two pieces of my favorite tempura on Samurai’s Choice meal.

It was a great food adventure at SumoSam, I think I just found another place where I can enjoy good Japanese dishes in large serving and presentation. So, the next time someone ask me where to eat, I would highly recommend SumoSam Gilmore branch.

This is not my first time to celebrate Chinese New Year but this is definitely the most memorable one!

I came from a big family, my late grandmother loves anything about Chinese – food, clothes, home decors, make-up and accessories. She was able to visit Beijing and saw the Great Walls and spent a long vacation in China with her sisters. She told me, it was one of the most exciting and memorable part of her life. Every year, my great grandmother celebrates her birthday in a Chinese restaurant.

With this exposure I easily appreciate the Chinese culture. At home I have few Chinese decors and charms, too. I love hopia, pancit and tikoy. I see to it I have stock of tea inside my kitchen cabinet. Like them I’m fond of using sauces to my dishes.

This year, I was invited to celebrate Chinese New Year with Philam Life. Although I have prior and personal commitment, I chose to attend the festivity because they say it will bring you good luck if you encounter and experience a grand Chinese New Year celebration.

It was also my first time to witness an “eye-dotting” ceremony for the dragon and lion dance heads that symbolizes the animal’s “awakening” or “coming alive” before being used for performances to bring good luck and prosperity to all that it encounters.

After almost two hours of lively and grand celebration, we enjoyed a delicious Chinese cuisine at The Royale restaurant.

I say it’s the most beautiful and memorable Chinese New Year I ever had simply because I enjoy it with people close to me. Our laughter and stories are never ending even we’re inside the service van going home.

Figaro Coffee Shop has been part of my life in the past few months. It’s my favorite hangout when doing blog assignments and articles. It’s my favorite milk tea avenue, enjoying every sip of Figaro Taro Pudding Chiller Feast (P100) and Raspberry Milk Tea with Yakult. I remember a time when I have to call my blogger friend for I badly need someone to talk to and somebody to listen and give advice; there we found the comfort and relaxing Figaro Tomas Morato.

Just a few secrets to tell, recently I found love at Figaro Shangri La Plaza. It was after a food tasting event held at the said store. That night, I got the answers to many questions bothering me since the last quarter of 2011. From then on, this coffee shop had a special place in my heart – here I cried, laugh and found peace and strength sometimes with just a cup of brewed coffee to keep me company.

That’s why with every Figaro store that opens, I am delighted knowing there’s always Figaro stores to comfort us - during good and bad times, during hot and cold weather.

Recently, another Figaro kiosk opened inside a familiar place along Aurora Boulevard. You can find the newest addition at World Citi Medical Center, one of the largest tertiary hospitals in Metro Manila.

During the opening, Figaro treated customers with Buy 2 and Get 1 beverage for free promo. It was an early morning event so I had a cup of cappuccino for extra energy and caffeine for the whole day.

We finished the tour just before lunch and went back to Figaro.

Thanks to Figaro for putting many stores and kiosks around the Metro. The next time I need to go to Sta Barbara San Mateo Rizal to visit my mom, I can drop by at World Citi and grab a cold drink or maybe bring home some pastries for her.

8 Student Chefs for the Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2 Revealed!

Moulinex You Cook is a culinary competition where entries are submitted in video clips showing the ingredients and procedure through a cooking demo using Moulinex food preparation products. Currently enrolled Culinary Arts and Hotel and Restaurant Management students in Metro Manila aged 18 yrs. old and above are the participants for this competition.

The Moulinex You Cook Video Recipe Challenge Year 2 formally launched last October 1 at the Hyphy’s Restaurant (The Veranda, Robinson’s Galleria) with school admins, students, judges, guests and food bloggers.

The much awaited semi-finals cook-off was held last January 14 at the Hotel Intercontinental in Makati. After 1 and 1/2 hours of cook-off, top 16 qualifiers for Moulinex You Cook Challenge went down to 8 who will be joining the Grand Finals happening on January 28, Saturday.

The judges gave pieces of advice to the participants as they presented their recipe.

Each students were given 1 and 1/2 hours to cook their submitted recipe using any Moulinex food preparation equipment and was judged according to Taste (30%), Mise En Place/Ease of Preparation (20%), Creativity/Originality (15%) and Visual appeal (15%)

For me, all of them possessed the qualities of a future chef. The recipes look nice, creative and all of them are interesting dish. 16 Semi-finalists not only enjoyed the competition, with the guidance from Moulinex team and judges’ comments they surely went home loaded with knowledge and skills.

The program will begin with Mr. Mendoza leading the traditional ‘eye-dotting’ ceremony for the dragon and lion dance heads which will be used for the event. Last December, Cadbury Dairy Milk excited mall-goers with a device that combined two things Filipinos love: Chocolate and Videoke. It was set during the most celebrated time of the year, Christmas. People were given a chance to have a moment of pure joy amidst the last-minute holiday shopping rush.

Dubbed “Sing for Joy,” the machine was set up in different malls within Metro Manila and passersby were invited to share the joy with one or more friends. All they had to do was pick a Christmas carol from the song list, and perform it to the best of their abilities. The machine captured the participants on video so they could watch themselves as they sang.

After their performances, the machine dispensed free, creamy Cadbury Dairy Milk Bars to each participant. Brand endorser and model Georgina Wilson joined the fun as she sang carols with fellow chocolate-lovers at the Trinoma mall in Quezon City.

All videos were recorded so that they could also be played back for a panel of judges from Kraft Foods (Philippines), Inc. and its advertising agency Ace Saatchi & Saatchi. The top 10 videos will be posted on the Cadbury Dairy Milk Philippines Facebook Page, and the one group with the highest score will win P40,000 in cash.

Pop Rock Princess Yeng Constantino is back for a Pre-Valentine Concert entitled “Ok Lang Maging Single Sa Valentines” happening on February 3, 8pm at The Music Museum.

During the Bloggers’ milk tea session with Yeng, she told us the concept and how she come up with such title for the show. “It was August of last year around the time of my solo concert at the Aliw Theater, when I thought of the title and immediately, the concept of a show came to me,” Yeng said. “I thought wouldn’t it be nice to come up with a show with singles in mind instead of the usual Valentines show for couples?” she added.

For sure, come Valentines, we’ll inundated by advertisements regarding dinner dates and other specials with “the couple” in mind. We doubt that you’ll see any other hearts-day event that pertains to “singles” except this one from Yeng, and there lies he uniqueness of her show.

On January 10, Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines’ leading hair care brand Pantene joins the cause to give children safe drinking water with the launch of its “Healthy Hair for Healthy Water” Campaign.

A support to the P&G Children Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program.

A long term global advocacy program that focuses on reducing sickness and death that result from water-borne illnesses caused by drinking contaminated water.

One small packet quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water.

To do this, Pantene with P&G’s CSDW program will provide water purification packets in the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

Krissy & Ericka Releases New Album; Hold Shows in Southeast Asia

Dubbed as the "M2M of the Philippines" with their youthful and powerful voice, sisters Krissy and Ericka is back with their sophomore release entitled "Twelve: Fifty One" which will be released this week in the Philippines.

They are YouTube sensations whose videos garnered a million hits with their interpretations of current hits. They are not new to the scene either as they have released their self-titled debut album which produced the hits “Up, Up, Down, Down” and “Don’t Say You Love Me" and was also released in Indonesia and Thailand.

I had the chance to meet these two pretty and talented young ladies during the exclusive Bloggers Conference and learned a couple of things about them. I have to admit that when I received an invite, initially I don't know them and that was then I heard that they are called the M2M of the Philippines so what I did is immediately check out their YouTube channel.

It was in 2008 when they started uploading their videos on YouTube primarily for their friend and relatives abroad to see. After sometime people started to notice their talents in singing and playing musical instruments, (both play the guitar and flute) garnering their videos millions of hits and became YouTube sensations.

12:51 is actually a beautiful song where ladies can easily relate to its lyrics and message just like me. It was titled 12:51 because Krissy wrote it at 12:51 am. Fans should watch out their music video which I find very romantic and felt like watching my favorite Koreanovela but still has the Pinoy flavor.

A line from the song 12:51 that I personally love is "Scroll through my cellphone for the 2oth time today..reading that text you sent me though I memorized it anyway..."

We asked them what their favorite song from the album, Krissy loves “Rocketeer” while Ericka likes “In your Arms”.

With ten tracks which is a combination of their versions of current hits like Adele's "Rolling In The Deep", "That Should Be Me" by Justin Bieber, Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)", "Back to December" by Taylor Swift, Far East Movement's "Rocketeer" (featuring the Lamars), "Love The Way You Lie by Rihanna as well as original songs written by Krissy and Ericka like "Rewind" (featuring another YouTube sensation AJ Rafael), "In Your Arms", the banner single "12:51", and "Anything' (written and featuring international artist Marie Digby). "Twelve: Fifty One" also includes a bonus track, their version of the Eric Clapton hit "Change The World" which is also included in the MCA Music compilation album "90s Music Comes Alive".

Krissy and Ericka will embark on shows in the Southeast Asia this January as special guests of AJ Rafael. They will be in Indonesia this January 13 at the Hard Rock Cafe, Jakarta; Malaysia on January 14 at Bentley Auditorium, Kuala Lumpur; Singapore on January 16 at Drama Center Theatre and here in the Philippines on January 18 at the Music Museum.

Adding more glitter to their tour is the release of "Twelve: Fifty One" in Singapore and Malaysia the same week as that of the Philippines and soon more countries in Southeast Asia.

"It is a big honor to be invited on those shows but it is more delightful to know that our album will be released across Southeast Asia," Krissy said.

"So expect us to see more in the coming months," Ericka said.

The Sound of Music at Resorts World Manila is something that nobody should miss. Special thanks to Orange Magazine TV and Tatak Digitista for the invitation.

First staged in Broadway in 1959, The Sound of Music ran for 1,443 performances and won the Tony Award for Best Musical and Best Actress before premiering in London in 1961. Since then, it has been re-staged in London, Broadway, and countless theaters worldwide.

A musical by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, The Sound of Music is the story of young postulant, Maria Rainer, who is appointed governess of the seven children of widower Captain Georg Von Trapp.

She teaches them the rudiments of music and allows them to discover a talent for singing they never once thought they possessed. In the process, the Captain’s cold and stern heart turns soft towards his children, while the stiff, professional relationship he once had with Maria gives way unexpectedly to love. Soon, they find themselves threatened by uncertainties of wartime as they struggle to build a new life together.

In 1965, it was made into a film that starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.

Headlined by Filipino powerhouse Broadway talents, Maria is played by theater veteran Joanna Ampil with Cris Villonco as her alternate. Meanwhile, the strict but loving Captain Georg von Trapp is reprised by Audie Gemora with Ed Feist as alternate.

The quiet and understanding Mother Abbess is portrayed by Pinky Marquez with Shiela Francisco as alternate. The role of the charming and ambitious Max Detweiler is shared by Miguel Faustman and Robbie Guevara. The captain’s fiancée, Baroness Elsa Schraeder, is played by Pinky Amador and Lynn Sherman.

Liesl, the eldest of the von Trapp siblings is portrayed by Tanya Manalang with Rachel Coates alternating. Rolf, Liesl’s love interest, is depicted by Marvin Ong and Bryan Homecillo. The rest of the von Trapp children are played by Paolo Luis Ocampo, Luis Nieto (Friedrich), Danielle Sanghio, Rebecca Coates (Louisa), Atasha Muhlach, Janina Punzalan, Alessandra Allado (Brigitta), Roberto Sison, Anton Posadas, Justin Sian (kurt), Alida Moberg, Paula Therese Zamesa, Sofia Yabyabin (Marta), Alexa Villaroel and Shanti Gleason (Gretl).

Other supporting cast includes Debralis Valasote (Fra Schmidt), Eduardo Bouffard (Franz the Butler), Lorenz Martinez (Herr Zeller), Jennifer Villegas, Carla Guevara (Sister Berthe), SarahFacuri, Pamela Imperial (Sister Margaretta), Jillian Pena and Maxine Sian (Sister Sophia).

Orchestra Music is provided by none other than The Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Maestro Rodel Colmenar. Vocal Directress Lyn Fabella of Wind Song, a Christian singing group famous for its heavenly vocal blending, supports Maestro Colmenar in recreating the well-loved songs from the musical.

Joanna Ampil did very well! From the start, she was very confident so I knew she will impress the audience. You can clearly understand her lines and I was mesmerized every time she sings. Of course, Audie Gemora and Pinky Amador, the veteran actors stood out. Other cast played their role fairly, including the von Trapp kids.

The music was perfect even the lyrics were said very clearly. With the lights, sounds and giant LED screen (which is actually the largest in Southeast Asia) and stage set up watching it was totally awesome, every scene was beautiful and enchanting.

Liwanag Park at Meralco Compound

On November 25, 2011 Meralco open its Liwanag Park to the public, where attractions within the Meralco Compound started to lit up for the people to enjoy.

I was hoping to see all the decorations and attraction inside the compound on the same day it was launched but I need to attend other prior commitments so I promised myself to come back before the Yuletide season ends.

Two days before 2011 ends, I met a fellow blogger for an afternoon milk tea session at BonAppetea and tasted the latest addition of their milk teas - the Winter melon with Cheese foam and Taro frappe with whipped cream. The winter melon instantly becomes my favorite second to Nirvana and Long Island NaughTea with Vodka Pearl. That day, I enjoyed my favorite refreshing drinks plus a good company, what else can I ask for?

Before we separate our ways, I even took home another tall size of Blueberry Yogurt Tea. Thanks NomNomClub.com for the milk tea treats!

I decided to stay for the 5:30 mass at Our Lady of Peace EDSA Shrine and thought of revisiting Liwanag Park at Meralco Compound.

The night bazaar inside Meralco compound just ended after Christmas but people were having fun with their families and loved ones watching the decorations. A FREE tour around the compound with Meralco’s electric shuttle bus is another attraction.

There are many attractions in the Philippines during the Holiday season. We don’t even spend a lot to enjoy the festivity, just like Meralco Liwanag Park that was opened for free.

Don’t just stand there, Speak Up!

When was the last time you speak up? You speak up for what is right? Did you grew up in a family where you’re not allowed to speak up and defend yourself? At school, did you get the chance to speak up for the times you got misunderstood? At work, did you speak up against unfair treatments, against bullying and gossip? If not, when do you plan to stand and speak up?

This year, I became active on blogging and social networking and noticed how powerful every information shared. Facebook and Twitter has become my major sources of information and the easiest way to convey a message, to spread the news. Indeed, social media has becoming helpful especially in times of disaster, relief operation and the likes.

Nowadays, to speak up comes in different ways - there’s the use of social networking sites, print and online-the blogs. High tech gadgets can be use to send an SMS, video or photo to report an incident, and even a problem to local news channel like the You Scoopers and Bayan Mo Patrollers. With that, an ordinary citizen can be heard and express their thoughts wherever they are .

2011 has brought a lot of problems and misunderstanding due to unverified information, celebrities and government officials being targets of criticism. Adding to that, others find it entertaining talking over other people’s life and gossip. This year, we watched video sex scandals, some of us were not contented they even shared it resulting to invasion of privacy, mental and emotional disturbances to the person concerned.

The Government Recently, we heard the news about Rep Gloria Arroyo leaving for Singapore but I commend the government for acting up immediately on it.

Everyday there are new and old stories.. (seen on Twitter dated Dec 30, 2011)

Economic and political issues are unending and we need not become citizens of the Philippines who do not care! We can’t leave the issues to the government officials, we need to be watchful and do our part. From now on, I will resist the “bahala na” attitude, for it is my right and obligation to be vigilant on every decisions they make. We can report graft and corruption in our community and barangays. Let’s be resilient and not procrastinators.

I can’t resist not showing my support to a non-government organizations like “Kaya Natin” that promotes good governance, ethical leadership and support ethical leaders in the government. Recently, they launch a book entitle “The Kaya Natin Champions: Inspiring Stories of Leadership”

I cannot resist to speak up issues on Poverty because I believe it’s the biggest problem of the country. Though there are a lot of campaigns and efforts done to solve this, we should speak up and reiterate that this is the leading problem in our country. KC Concepcion was right when she said that “as much as you want to save the Pasig River, as much as you want to fight breast cancer but you can’t do that if you’re hungry. Talk about what you do to get people interested..”

Cyberbullying and False Information If we just know how to properly express ourselves, incidents both online and in physical space could have been avoided just like the cyber bullying experienced by Chris Lao.

We must be aware of what we share online, stop sharing false information and video scandals. Think before you click!

I remember in one of my travel adventures, I saw a group of people doing dynamite fishing. I was trying to take photos of them but a friend prevented me and even erased the photos I had. I understand why he felt that way, we’re in a secluded area, and we might be in a dangerous situation so he wanted me to keep quiet as if I didn’t see anything. Ashamed of myself, of not speaking up, of not reporting what I saw and not blogging about it! I regret letting him erase the photos on my camera. So I promised myself it will not happen again, nobody will dictate me or prevent me to do what I think is right.

We can do something! 2012 is the year we need to speak up and be heard. In a couple of days we will be making our New Year’s resolution. As for me, this year, I will SPEAK UP for what I think is right. If given the chance I would like to speak up for others who can’t, who are abused and maltreated. Speak up for the environment and will speak up without others to influence me.

Let’s welcome the new year with positive attitude and being part of significant issues. Resist cyber bullying, copyright infringement and plagiarism. I will resist being silent and not speaking up for what I believe. This coming year, I would like to speak up for the environment, protecting it in my own little ways.

The idea of SM MOA EYE is after the London Eye of England and Singapore Flyer of Singapore.

It is considered the tallest and the biggest in the country with 55 meters in diameter.

Excited to see Manila in 360 degrees, few days before Christmas I went to SM Mall of Asia to do some Christmas shopping and just before that, me and my friends wants to experience riding the MOA EYE.

Christmas is for children so what do you think is the best gift we can give them?

I can’t remember the last time I visited an orphanage although I’ve been planning, it always didn’t materialize so when I received an invitation to grace the turnover of the Tiger Energy Playground to Hospicio de San Jose, one of the many orphanage in the country, I didn’t think twice.

It was a rainy day of December 15, after an early event in Mall of Asia me and two other bloggers brave the bad weather and took the LRT and stayed almost an hour inside the cab due to heavy traffic just to attend the turnover. Good thing, we came on time. On our arrival, it was the old building that I noticed second to the children who are praying the rosary lead by nuns.

I knew it will be a fun-filled day for the kids of Hospicio de San Jose, they were excited with the new playground. We were praying the rain would stop so we can start the program. Few minutes more, everybody was there including the event host, KRAFT representatives and students from Mapua Institute of Technology.

So, what’s this playground all about? This is a special playground presented to Hospicio de San Jose by Tiger Energy Biscuit.

Why special? because the energy that the children spend to play can now be turned into energy for the orphanage through the Tiger Energy playground. How it works? Kids release energy on the playground and the generator inside the seesaw and merry-go-round stores this energy turning it to electrical energy that will be stored in a battery.
