The Freedom Tour tells the story of the revolution. This tour covered the following areas: La Salle Greenhills, The EDSA Shrine, The People Power Monument and Club Filipino.

The third Stop was the People Power Monument, a towering monument along EDSA. It is sculptured by Eduardo Castrillo in honor of the Filipinos who marched on the streets of EDSA to fight against the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos.

The highlight of this activity was the re-enactment of "Salubungan" , where Filipino citizens headed by Butz Aquino and the military force led by then Vice-Chief of Staff Fidel V. Freedom Tour (Part I) - 25th EDSA People Power Anniversary

FREEDOM TOUR - a project of the Department of Tourism and Ninoy Aquino Foundation run from February 23-25. The tour covers four important sites during 1986 EDSA Revolution; La Salle Greenhills Gym, EDSA Shrine, EDSA People Power Monument and the Club Filipino.

I was only 7 yrs old during the People Power Revolution I still remember the tight security measures implemented in Gate 1 of Fort Bonifacio few blocks away from where we live. Of course who cannot remember the songs "Bayan ko"  "Magkaisa", and "Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo"  which became the anthem of the bloodless EDSA Revolution. The Freedom Tour I attended tells the whole story of EDSA People Power Revolution, we were brought to four significant venues. A re-enactment of important events of the peaceful revolution was the highlight of the tour.

It is free, an air-conditioned bus brought us to the Four Historical Sites and fortunately I was invited by a friend to join the tour.

Here's the first part of the tour. Our first stop, the La Salle Greenhills Gymnasium, the site of the National Tabulation Center for NAMFREL's Quick Count.

Mr. Edmund from DOT tells us the important events that happened during the EDSA People Power Revolution

Our 2nd stop - the EDSA Shrine. It was built in 1989 to commemorate the memories of the Peaceful and Bloodless People Power Revolution.

The "Flame of Freedom"

The "Flame of Freedom" is a sculpture done by Artist Manny Casal  of three hardy men bearing a cauldron of flame over their shoulders. The Flame of Freedom represents the Philippine's three major islands, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Another Representative from the Department of Tourism explains the significance of the "Flame of Freedom"  and the "Shrine of Mary" to participants and foreign visitors.

The EDSA Shrine was built and dedicated to Our Lady who has miraculously interceded to oust the dictatorship in a bloodless manner also called People Power Revolution happened in 1986.

Starbucks Cinnamon Swirl

No comments:
Cinnamon bread from our local bakery, Cinnamon flavored donuts, Cinnamon bread sticks, I just love Cinnamon rolls!

It's been a while since my last dose of coffee at  Starbucks. I am trying to limit caffeine intake though Starbucks also offers other non-coffee beverages like Fruit Juices honestly I can't resist having a cup of coffee each time I visit the store.

On my recent visit at the store I had the CINNAMON SWIRL (P55). Initially, I thought it was Ensaymada because of the melted sugar and cream on top.

Cinnamon Swirl is a perfect pair for coffee or tea. The bread is soft, moist and sweet. I love the smell, not too strong unlike other cinnamon breads.

The other cinnamon pastry available at Starbucks Store is crisp outside but soft inside. How about you, what Starbucks baked goodies do you like most? :)
