How To Remove Food Stains

On our recent family get-together, the ladies were talking about work, parenting, family and household chores. One of our favorite topics then was shopping for home appliances. Most of us are young couples and still in the process of filling our homes with appliances. We discussed what's the best home appliances brands in the market. How much should we spend in every appliances. If our spouses agree on getting a more sophisticated one. Should we immediately invest in a pricey yet good one even if we are just starting and have no kids yet. The discussion moved to getting a helper and doing the laundry. My sister-in-law, Joan who is about to give to birth few months from now and has a four-year old son seeks advice how to easily remove food stains.

Suddenly, I remember The Electrolux Save & Share Blog Series which is part of the Electrolux Delightful-E simple campaign. It aims to help moms save not just money but also their precious time by making their everyday tasks delightfully simple and easy.  My sister-in-law, Joan wants to learn how she can properly manage her time with the kids. Her four year old boy is now in pre-school. There were days that his son comes home dirty and with food stains on his white uniform.

I thought, maybe I can help her by providing her inspiring insights from our Electrolux brand ambassadors Cheska Garcia Kramer, Chef Rosebud Benitez, Chef Bruce Lim and Mommy Mundo’s Janice Villanueva. So, the next thing I did was find a way or set an interview about creative yet effective ways to save household expenses. As part of The Electrolux Save & Share Blog Series got to ask Mommy Mundo and Chef Rosebud.

How To Remove Food Stains

1. Doing the laundry is commonly seen to be such a daunting chore. How do you ensure that doing the laundry is not as difficult and intimidating as people think it is?

Janice Villanueva of Mommy Mundo shared:
It is tough work without the right machine. With today’s washer-dryers, like my Electrolux Time Manager, you can do laundry while going on with life! Just load up the clothes, push the button and go back to it some time later to just fold everything up. It’s really that simple these days.

Chef Rosebud's insight:
Well first is by getting a reliable partner that will help make things easier for you. In my case, I love how the Electrolux washing machine makes everything easier for me to do our laundry.

2. One of the major challenges in laundry is treating stains. Can you share tips on how to deal with common household stains?

Janice Villanueva added:
Using the right products helps a lot! I have one of two stain removers in my arsenal that I apply prior to washing. It has worked almost 90% of the time.  Secondly, there is an Electrolux washing machine with a Stainwand feature- minimizes the need for soaking or chemically treating fabrics to get a stain out.

Chef Rosebud shared tips on how to remove stains using items available at home such as cream of tartar, lemon juice, white toothpaste and table salt.
Cream of Tartar for food stains: Mix cream of tartar with lemon juice and you have a wonderful bleach for white clothes spotted with food or other stains. It’s even effective on many rust stains.
Grass stains on clothes can be removed with an old toothbrush and plain white toothpaste; just make sure you use a paste variety and not a gel. Squeeze a small amount of the toothpaste onto the stain, then dip the toothbrush in clean water and use it to scrub away the stain. Repeat this process as needed to treat all of the stain. Rinse the area and launder the clothing as usual.
A method for removing blood from clothing is to wet the stained area of the fabric with water, sprinkle it with plain old table salt, rub one half of the stain against the other to work in the salt and loosen the stain, then immediately launder the garment the way you usually do.
Mommy Mundo and Chef Rosebud shared how Electrolux Time Manager help them save most of their time. Their stories were very inspiring especially to my pregnant sister-in-law who wants to spend most of her time with the anticipating baby and her four-year-old son, now a pre-schooler.

This morning, while having breakfast I spotted Electrolux Savings Calculator on their Facebook Page and tried it. A pretty nice application where you can see how much you save on your laundry. I was surprised when I found out that I can even save up to eleven thousand pesos in a year by using a top load Electrolux washing machine.

Before I end this story, Electrolux is also running the Savings Calculator Facebook Contest until September 30. If you want to get hold of an Electrolux Washing Machine, this could be your chance. The four winners of the twin tub washing machines will be announced on October 10, 17, 24, and 31.
