Love For Street Food Rekindled

Last month, I had the chance to visit Taiwan for one week with my husband. It was my first time in Taiwan and had so much fun exploring the city and its nearby towns. One of the things I enjoyed most is Taiwan food, Taiwan street food to be more exact.

A visit to night markets in Taipei is one of the must-things you should do when traveling to Taiwan. While there are a lot of night markets, we only got to visit two or three of them - Ningxia night market in Datong District which is walking distance from where we stayed which is the Cheers hotel and of course, who wouldn't miss the Ximending night market.

Taiwan is known for oyster and braised intestines misua soup (mee sua). Initially, I was skeptical to try it but I love misua and I really wanted to know why it's a popular street food in Taiwan. Taiwan misua is slightly thick and a little fragrant. It taste really good and flavorful especially if you add more chili. The oyster and pork intestines are tender and juicy. Since then, I would crave for mee sua.

SM Street Food Festival Grand Finale

It's always fun to look for the best street food in town. While traveling in Taiwan, I realized that I am also missing our own SM Street Food Festival Grand Finale for the first time. It was held at the SM Mall of Asia. I can just imagine the variety of street food I am missing, from pork intestines, kwek-kwek, sago't gulaman, ginataang halo-halo and my favorite Vigan empanada.
