Gardenia Celebrates Happy Bread Day!

In celebration of World Bread Day, Gardenia Bakeries Philippines invited members of the media and Bloggers to witness the “Happy Bread Day” Celebration and the unveiling of the “G Lock Collage” held at the Gardenia Plant, Mamplasan, Binan Laguna. I am privileged to be included to join this event since I’ve been wanting to have a tour inside Gardenia Plant.

Gardenia is one of my favorite tinapay (bread). I won’t buy white bread unless it’s Gardenia, Why not? with its tasty, soft, fresh and oven-baked aroma ‘you can eat it on its own’. Learning about the company’s mission made me decide to support and patronize Gardenia even more.
Gardenia’s “Happy Bread Day” celebration is also in line with the commemoration of World Bread Day, a global event that also espouses the philosophy of sharing of bread as a meaningful and symbolic humanitarian act and at the same time encourages the exchange of ideas between the world’s bakers and confectioners.

Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc. (GBPI), makers of the popular Gardenia bread  launches “Happy Bread Day” together with hundreds of kids from Nayon ng Kabataan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, in partnership with K.I.D.S. (Kabataan Inyong Dapat Suportahan) Foundation.

The occasion is an opportunity for the company to showcase its unwavering commitment of providing nutrition to countless kids through its great-tasting bread products, also serves as a pledge for nutrition by Gardenia to help enrich people’s lives.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the “G-Lock Collage”, a unique and creative idea conceptualized by Gardenia that aims to expand its already-substantial Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, this time directly involving its customers and even participants of the widely popular Gardenia plant tour.

According to Mr. Simplicio Umali, President and General Manager it is a dream to create a big collage like a size of a basketball court to give more to the foundation. Nayon ng Kabataan is just one of the many foundations that Gardenia supports such as the Boys and Girls Town, Rotary Clubs, the poor communities along Paranaque and Muntinlupa and the Philippine Army just to name a few.

Efforts to educate the poor to be responsible citizens, providing jobs, quick to respond to calamities and emergencies, educating healthy lifestyles and providing additional source of income – these are some of Gardenia’s efforts of supporting the community especially the poor.

Gardenia celebrates “Happy Bread Day!”

The “G-Lock Collage” will form a “collage” composed of Gardenia’s unique G-Lock bread tags. The collage will be equivalent to more than 3,000 G-Locks is equal to one bread loaf. These loaves shall then be given to then be given to the chosen charities by Gardenia, which include the Nayon ng Kabataan and the Manila Youth Reception Center, in partnership with the K.I.D.S. Foundation, an organization whose passion is to help and nurture children from all walks of life to experience growth and development.

For visitors who wants to participate and donate their G Locks to the booth, all you have to do is donate the G Locks to the booth and submit your name and contact details.

Gardenia Recipe:

Kids learned how to prepare nutritious and delicious snack using Gardenia breads with the help of Gardenia’s Nutritionist Ms. De Guzman. I loved the food they served us - Crema De Fruita using Gardenia Bread was very delicious. I didn’t know we can use Gardenia to replace chiffon cake as the base for crema de fruita. There were healthy wheat bread with chucky chicken and apple filling. Another interesting recipe is the Choco Pastillas using Chocolate Chip Loaf, condensed milk and powdered milk. All recipes are nutritious and easy to prepare.

After the unveiling, we then proceeded to the famous Gardenia plant tour. All of us including the kids had a great time at Gardenia’s world-class 6K plant, the company’s top-of-the-line bread manufacturing facility capable of producing 6,000 loaves of bread per hour.

Gardenia currently has three plant, the two (2), four (4) and six (6) K plants (K stands for thousand). That means they are producing 12 thousand loaves per hour for 24 hours 6 days a week.

Currently it has sixty (60) types of bread leading is the Classic Gardenia Bread and the Wheat bread. Gardenia uses only high class materials and ingredients in order to maintain its freshness and oven-baked aroma.

The celebration of World Bread Day extends to encouraging the children and the families to eat healthy food, to bring into hearts social responsibility just like helping to fill the G Lock Collage.
