TOMS One for One

I’ve been longing to have a pair of TOMS shoes. After attending TOMS Holiday 2011 Collection launch showcasing not only TOMS latest designs but the significance of giving, I realized I should really get a pair.

Last November 16, I was invited to attend TOMS Holiday 2011 Collection held at the 2nd’s Restaurant in BGC. The affair was focused on talking about TOMS advocacy, the One for One. TOMS presented the 2012 Spring Collection and 2011 Holiday Collection.

The 2011 Holiday Collection highlights the significance of the human connection that result from the act of giving. The collection is complimented by pops of winterized colors and materials allowing people in all climates to continue wearing TOMS throughout the winter months.

These warmer options include plaid, wool and suede materials, bold colors and prints like teal and black Aztec canvas as well as fleece-lined styles.

With all of the special occasions during these winter months fancier styles are found for women in the collection with the Sequins Cordones, Classic and Wedges, allowing your TOMS to be present at every occasion during the holidays.

About TOMS Shoes
There is no “TOM”. The founder’s name is BLAKE. Tom is actually an abbreviation for “Shoes for a better tomorrow”. In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriend children in a village in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. ONE for ONE. To date, TOMS has given over a million pairs of new shoes to children through giving partners around the world.

WHY SHOES? Shoes have been shown to be fundamental resource for protecting children from rough terrain, infection, and soil-based diseases.
  • In many developing countries, children must walk barefoot for miles to school, clean water and medical help
  • Hundreds of millions of children are at risk of injury, infection and soil-transmitted diseases that most can’t afford to prevent and treat.
  • Children who are healthy are more likely to be successful students, and access to education is a critical determinant of long-term success.
    • Many schools require shoes
    • Owning shoes tends to increase attendance
WHAT SHOES DO THEY GIVE? The shoes they give are made to order and evolving all the time. TOMS make only the sizes the children need and make sure no sure go to waste.
