Kitchen Tips From Electrolux Kitchen Class

In our past family reunions I would usually cook one dish and the rest were bought from our favorite restaurants. I cook but sometimes I'm still afraid to prepare for big occasions until last Christmas. #UyChristmas is an annual celebration of thanksgiving. We invite friends and family. Last Christmas, hubby announced on his social media account an open house invitation. At first, I was nervous that I might not be able to prepare enough for everyone. We had about forty guests, thank your for coming. Overall, it was an amazing day. They loved my seafood pasta and glazed ham, also the bolognese sauce for the kids. While the ginger bread house from Marriott Manila was such a hit for the young ones. Thanks to Electrolux Philippines, the kitchen tips I applied preparing for big family reunion.

Pasta has always been an easy to prepare dish for all occasion. However, I find it too boring. Besides, it has always been part of most festivity. But in a recent cooking class I attended, I got to revive my love for pasta dish and learned to make a twist out of the usual lasagna and tomato sauce.

Kitchen Tips From Electrolux Kitchen Class

In the recent Electrolux Kitchen Class, our mentor Chef Bruce Lim taught us two, easy-to-prepare holiday dishes that even women who do not know how to cook can make. First dish was the Pineapple Glazed Pork Chops. Tender, juicy, pork chops served with pineapple slices and beans. It was prepared and cooked in less than an hour.

What You Need: 4 pcs Pork Chops (200g/cut), 500g Fresh Pineapples, water, brown Sugar, Soy Sauce, Minced Ginger, salt and pepper to taste.

Preparation:
  1. Cook pork but do not over cook or fry. Set aside.
  2. Extract pineapple juice using the Electrolux Juicer. Optional: use pineapple juice if no juicer available.
  3. In a small sauce pan, combine all ingredients and bring to a light boil.
  4. Brush sauce on pork chops and place on a prepare hot pan.
  5. Let it brown inside the Electrolux oven. Serve.
I'm not a fan of pork chops though but I like this dish because it's tasty and because it was perfectly cooked in the Electrolux Oven, meat was juicy and tender. I can prepare other ingredients while waiting for the pork chop glazed cook.

The next dish is all time favorite but I consider it one of the most difficult pasta dish I cooked. I'm having a hard time making white sauce or the bechamel sauce. Here's another cooking tip, use left over roast chicken, vegetable or perhaps salmon in making lasagna.

Do more with less using Electrolux Blender, you can chopped garlic, onions, celery and carrots. Then, in a saucepan, saute the chopped garlic, onions and carrots and add the ground beef, canned whole peeled tomatoes and chicken stock and bring to a boil. Add chopped basil and season the sauce with salt and pepper. Set aside.

As I said, I find it hard to make a white sauce so I'm happy to share with you cooking tips. How To Make White Sauce: Put butter and flour then mixed until combined. Add cold milk, onion, and bay leaf. Allow to boil until thick. Remove onion and bay leaf and add nutmeg, garlic powder, onion powder. Season with salt and pepper.

We're not yet done. My blogger friend Ruth and I prepared our own pasta dishes for the holidays. Using canned diced tomatoes, ground beef, some onions and garlic, black olives and cheese. Using two kinds of noodles as well. We call it curly pasta just because of the type of noodles. Our masterpiece did not won but Chef Bruce said it was tasty and very good. By the way, we used olive oil in cooking.

Happy New Year everyone! Let's do more with less this 2016. Spend more time with important people in our lives. With Electrolux appliances we can prepare and cook healthy and delicious meals for our family. I'm so glad I chose a fully automatic Electrolux refrigerator. Our food remains fresh. With enough space, keeping food is much easier specially during holidays. It's easy to clean as well. No frost so I don't have to spend time and effort defrosting the freezer. I also use water with salt in cleaning the refrigerator.
