Travels: Bahay Bakasyunan in Camiguin Island

My idea of relaxation is a quick escape from the busy city where I could enjoy local food and go nature tripping. I visited the 2nd smallest island in the Philippines, Camiguin a couple of years ago.

Bahay Bakasyunan in Camiguin Review

First impression, Camiguin island is a quiet and serene place where life is simple and people, warm and hospitable. I was told that they do not have fast food or big malls. People would usually go to sleep as early as 7am and woke up early to work.

Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin or BBC Resort

Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin, BBC Resort for short was my home in Camiguin. From the lobby to the rooms, everything just looks eco-friendly. A beautiful roofing made of wood and other natural materials. I walked farther going to the pool area and smiled to see an interesting landscape of the pool overlooking Mindanao Sea.

I was surrounded with palm trees and variety of plants. The refreshing wind that touches my skin was something I thanked for - no air and noise pollution here just the sound of moving leaves and calming waves of the ocean. I love it here.

I stayed in one of the BBC Deluxe Rooms (P4,200). It has twin beds with toilet and bath (hot and cold shower). They also provided coffee and tea facility. There was no WIFI back then so I really got a good night sleep, very early. The weather is cold at night but they provided blankets. There's also a Standard nipa-hut style rooms with air condition.

I enjoyed the whole day Camiguin island city tour in the evening a soothing body massage at BBC. They have a spa but you can also request a massage done at your room.

The next morning, I woke up very early looking forward to a Filipino breakfast at Oceanside Bar and Grill located in front of the beach and just beside the swimming pool area. The restaurant is open air so I really enjoyed the morning breeze and sunshine. I found their placemats interesting, look it's the map of Camiguin island.

My breakfast was daing na bangus with two sunny-side up eggs and rice served. I usually have coffee every morning but I opted for hot chocolate - delicious!

It was a short but sweet staycation at Bahay Bakasyunan in Camiguin. This place is recommended for family bonding and retreats. I hope to be back in Camiguin soon.
