Did you know that 1 in every 13 Filipino women suffers from disease in her lifetime? The sad news is that the Philippines now ranks 9th highest incidence rates of breast cancer. Fear is just one of the many reasons why patients delaying the diagnosis even when they already felt suspicious lumps on their breast. Moreover, 90% of the Filipinos diagnosed with the dreaded disease preferred breast removal than breast conservation. So what happens after the breast removal? The next stage, agony over lost of breast was usually taken for granted. We're glad there are advocacy which focused on dealing this problem.

Sabina's "Sewing Cup, Sewing Heart" campaign reach out to women who undergone mastectomy. The company donates sewn cups to the breast cancer survivors who don’t know how to go back to their normal life after a breast removal. At the event, guests were encouraged and provided materials to help sew heart cups. We were able to make 250 Sewing Cups. Each kit basically includes synthetic sheets, a finished bag, a plastic LLDPE beads bag and a cone of thread and needle.

LLDPE stands for linear low-density polyethylene, which is a plastic produced through a lower pressure process. Put simply, LLDPE plastic is generally safe to use especially on the breast area.

It felt good knowing that my work will make someone smile and alleviate the pain and discomfort she might be going through.
