Dining at Racks Tomas Morato

It was my second time dining at RACKS. My fond memories are the tasty pasta dishes and milkshakes so imagine the joy I felt when I was invited to dine at the newly opened RACKS in Tomas Morato. I couldn't say no for two reasons: the person who invited us was such a nice lady. Second, the newly opened branch is just a few minutes away from home. We always want to explore restaurants near our place.

Thanks Jonel for this lovely photo!
RACKS has been in the market for quite sometime, it was open in 1992. After two decades this casual (yes casual, so don't get intimidated) dining restaurant continues to serve its flame-grilled, falls-of-the-bone specialty.

I love the new branch and you can easily find it along Tomas Morato. The store has modern design and spacious that can accommodate huge groups, family gatherings. It's interior warm and cozy, I can't resist but have a photo taken with bricks and memorabilia as backdrop.

Let me start with the desserts. We had Memphis Pound Cake, buttery pound cake topped with rich raspberry preserves and vanilla ice cream. This is an alternative if you feel tired of chocolate desserts. Still, we had the Mississippi Mud Pie, a moist chocolate fudge brownie made with gooey chocolate inside on a bed of thick choco syrup topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. That afternoon, the Memphis Pound cake was the star of dessert for me. Truth is, I was expecting chocolaty syrup inside the mud pie. :)

If you love onion rings, then you should try Rack's Onion Brick. Thinly-sliced onion rings, marinated, spiced, and lightly breaded, then deep-fried to a crisp. This is big in serving, an order can be shared by four. It comes with remoulade and barbeque sauce. I prefer the former with its sweet and tangy flavor. While writing this blog, I'm craving for Buttermilk Biscuits, will definitely have it on our next visit. This time at SM North EDSA branch.

I love dishes with lots of garlic. So when I tried Rack's pasta dish with shrimps, it became an instant favorite. Good ‘ole spaghetti with broccoli florets sauteed in a chili-infused garlic olive oil mixture. It comes with my favorite garlic bread. It's a little spicy thought but a perfect garlic-ky treat! On our next trip, I'll try their Pasta Bolognese.

Now with the main course, tender and juicy Angus Au Jus, flame-grilled Angus beef rib-eye seasoned with Rack's signature steak rub and paired with red wine au Jus. Served with our choice of any two regular side dishes and grilled tomato.

And if you want it saucy, delight yourself with original or hot/spicy Barbeque sauces. We seldom order flavored beverages, more often we wanted cold water but the Pink lemonade and brewed iced tea looks good. I love the Pink Lemonade.
