Top Places to Visit in Coron Palawan

I slept early after a lovely Luau dinner at Isla bar hosted by, of course, Bacau Bay Resort Coron. The next morning, I rushed to the balcony to enjoy a quiet morning outside. I feel so blessed with the opportunity to travel once again again getting stuck at home for almost two years.

Amihan (means Northeast monsoon) restaurant serves Filipino and continental breakfast. I like their rich and chocolaty champorado. There's garlic rice, sausage and dried fish as well. The restaurant can make omelets or sunny side up eggs for you.

From Twin Lagoon, our next destination was Banul beach. It's a beautiful white beach in Coron with old kalachuchi trees and nipa huts. Our group enjoyed a boodle lunch; fresh seafood such as the expensive samaral; grilled pork and chicken adobo, grilled eggplant, tomatoes, onion with salted egg. After lunch you may take a nap at the nipa huts but most of us swim in Banul beach.

From Banul beach, we visited the famous diving site in Coron, the Barracuda Lake. It is popular because of its crystal-clear, fresh, salty and brackish water. I'm glad that Bacau Bay Resort included Barracuda in our Island Hopping from Coron. There's an easy trek and we walked on a wooden plank with wooden stairs, it's not too difficult compared to Kayangan. Barracuda lake is great for snorkeling and diving with its underwater rock formations. They are amazing!

Kayangan Lake

Our 2nd to the last destination is the iconic Kayangan Lake. Some of us were already tired and skipped the 360 steps to Kayangan View Deck. My husband and I did not want to miss this opportunity even though we've been here before. From the deck we continued the trek going down leading to Kayangan lake where we swam in crystal-clear, fresh water. There are inlets and towering rock formations too. This place closes at 5pm so make sure to arrive before it closes to the public.

We watched the breathtaking sunset from the boat's deck as we went back to Bacau Bay Resort. While watching the descent of the sun below the horizon, I was reminded of the time when we were stuck at home because of Covid-19. It also brought back the time I was taking care of my sick husband due to Covid-19, it was exactly a year ago as of this writing.

Best Time to Visit Coron, Where to Stay

You can visit Coron anytime of the year but the best time would be February to May. This will give you enough time to do outdoor activities. Expect heavy rainfalls between June to August. Make sure to bring travel essentials such as paraben-free sunscreen, organic wet wipes, eco-friendly tumbler and limit the use of plastic bottles. Please take your trash back to the hotel and properly dispose them including face masks.

I recommend Bacau Bay Resort your home in Coron. This resort has three major selling points: location because it's just 30-45 minutes away from Busuanga airport. 2nd point is the amenities, you may read my previous post featuring Bacau Bay Resort Coron here. 3rd point is good customer service and indeed, you get what you pay for.

The resort can also arrange your island hopping and hotel/airport pick up. Our island hopping was such an amazing experience. The tour guides were friendly and courteous. I noticed that they even fix our towels, fold it nicely every time we go down of the boat to swim. Aside from the very good lunch, they also prepared saging na saba with sago for our meryenda. Extra items they prepared like a Bluetooth speaker and bean bag chairs so we can relax and listen to the music. Bacau Bay Resort provided everything we need for a grand vacation in Coron. After a whole day of island hopping, we had a soothing massage from Alon Spa, Bacau Bay's in-house massage.

Essential Items to Pack

When going to the beach for 4 days, I would bring about 8 sets of swimsuits, that means I have 2 sets to use per day just in case I want more photos for ootd. Additionally, I bring cover ups and I love knitted ones, the white cover up I wore in Kayangan is from Kultura Filipino. Skin care products include a good sunscreen, but not so much on makeup. You may also bring your own snorkeling gear, but there's no need to worry as Bacau Bay Resort also provides it.
