Julie's Bakeshop: Rainbow Round Cake & Empanada

Rainbow Cupcake

Who's not familiar with Julie's Bakeshop? I believe it's one of the largest bakeshop chain in the country today. Here in Manila, you'll find several Julies Bakeshop stores - along the street, nearby train stations, bus terminals and market areas.

Selling not only delicious but also affordable breads that many Filipino families love. Sometime ago, I met Ms. Julie, the humble owner of Julie's Bakeshop for the fight against hunger campaign of Julie's Bakeshop and World Food Programme. With that I personally supported the programme by including "Bayan Bread" in my weekly grocery list.

About two weeks ago, I was invited to visit Julie's Bakeshop office in Pasig City where we tried Julie's Bakeshop's additional products - these are new line of delicious and colorful breads and cakes.

Rainbow Cupcake (P12/each) are topped with four tropical flavors - pineapple, strawberry, buko pandan and ube and sprinkled with colorful confetti sugar.

For special occasions, why not bring home Julie's Bakeshop's Rainbow Round Cake (P160/whole), a six-inch round butter chiffon cake with festive red, yellow, and green layers; coated in creamy whipped cream. I like the chiffon cake and the icing, it reminds me of the regular wedding cakes.  It's also available in a square slice for only P45.

Four colors and flavors of Yummy Yoyos (P5/each). They are soft round sandwich puffs in orange, buko pandan, pineapple and strawberry variants, all with powdered sugar in between.

Yummy Yoyos
While my husband prefers guava Fruit-Filled Breads (P7/each), I personally like the pineapple flavor. These are flower-shaped breads perfectly match a cup of coffee. Other flavors include mango, and pineapple.

Fruit-Filled Breads
From all the items we tasted, Julie's very own Empanada (P8/piece) is my favorite. The classic Filipino snack filled with chicken meat that's so affordable yet delicious.

The newest creations from Julie’s Bakeshop, summer breads is indeed perfect for the whole family. They are now available at all Julie’s Bakeshop branches nationwide. So, the next time you drop by Julie's Bakeshop try the new Julie's Summer Breads. I recommend the Rainbow Round Cake, pineapple fruit-filled breads and Emapanada.
