Top Five Things To Consider Before Starting An Exercise Program

How are you today? Did you exercise or do some stretching? Remember what I shared on my previous blog post about dieting? Read it here.

Today, we will talk about exercise. Perhaps, one of the reasons why I maintained the ideal weight under 50kg and over 40kg is because of exercise. Actually, my favorite form of exercise is walking around at home. I like cleaning the house, sweeping the floor and wiping dust off. Then I would sweat a lot after doing household chores. Going to the gym is something I would like to but I don't want to spend extra for gym membership. This year, I'm doing yoga at home. Applying what I learned from previous classes I attended. Hey, this post is not about how to lose weight rather what women should consider before starting an exercise program.

Five Things You Need To Consider Before Exercise

There are people who would start a certain exercise program without assessing their overall health status. Take note that there are many things you should consider before doing extreme lifting.

1. Check your current fitness status.
2. Check medical conditions. Consult your doctor or assess yourself. Do not lift heavy objects if you have spinal cord problems, vaginal prolapse or breast lumps. If you're not sure, again consult your doctor or physical therapist.
3. Timing and Schedule. It is best to set a realistic goal. Make time to workout and exercise as planned. Keeping in mind that exercise should be fun and not stressful.
4. Check if you're pregnant. High risk pregnant women should consult their OB-Gyne. There are recommended exercises for pregnant women.
5. Set Goals: Plan your type and time of exercise. I cannot lift those heavy dumbbells because I experiences low back pain I do it slowly. I also find yoga as an effective exercise for me. I'm also learning the proper Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic muscles.

Overall, the first thing you should do is to assess your posture. Begin with proper standing and seating posture. It will definitely go a long way. Keep in mind that exercise is not only to lose weight but also to achieve overall health so you can take care of your family and others. What can you say about this article?
